What Is PLIDA?

PLIDA (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri) is an official Italian language certification by the Società Dante Alighieri. It is recognised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education.

Six CEFR-aligned levels are offered: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. PLIDA certificates never expire. Each section is scored out of 30, with a pass mark of 18/30 per section.

PLIDA B1 is accepted for Italian citizenship applications. PLIDA B2 is required for Italian university admission without the language entrance exam. The exam is available at over 300 Dante Alighieri centres across 60 countries.

  • Parts: Monologue + conversation with examiner
  • Time: 10 minutes
