Get StartedWhat Are DELF and DALF?
DELF and DALF are official French language diplomas issued by the French Ministry of Education. They are administered worldwide by France Éducation International across six CEFR-aligned levels: DELF A1, A2, B1, B2 and DALF C1, C2.
Unlike most language tests, DELF and DALF certificates never expire — they are lifetime diplomas. Over 400,000 candidates sit for these exams every year in 175 countries.
DELF B2 is typically required for French university admission at the undergraduate level, while DALF C1 is the standard for master's and doctoral programmes. DELF B1 is the minimum for French citizenship applications.
