Get StartedWhat Is CELPIP?
The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) is a Canadian English test developed by Paragon Testing Enterprises, a subsidiary of the University of British Columbia. It is designated by IRCC for permanent residency and Canadian citizenship applications.
CELPIP-General tests all four skills and is used for permanent residency. CELPIP-General LS tests only listening and speaking and is accepted for citizenship. The test is entirely computer-delivered and results are reported as CLB levels (1–12) per skill.
Results are valid for two years from the test date. CELPIP uses Canadian English — Canadian accents, spelling, and cultural references — making it a natural choice for candidates already in Canada.

The CELPIP-General takes approximately 3 hours. All sections are completed on a computer in one sitting.
